' Toronto-based indie pop band Rikers (no affiliation to the island in Manhattan, and thankfully so) make the kind of breezy, near-shoegaze pop music that send sensations up your spine as you listen and make your smile muscles uncontrollably do their thing. It's shimmering and bathed in effects thanks in no small part to the mixing duties of Kevin McMahon (The Walkmen, French Kicks) and productio...n by Shawn Bradley (Mellowdrone). ' You`re a pixie and I`m a liar" is easily one of the most intriguing opening lyrics i`ve heard for sometime. The track `Easter Eyes` is an epic taster from Canadian duo `Rikers`, a complex produced track so musically layered, you`re gonna need a crowbar to get in there. ' The band’s influences (New Order, early U2, the Bunnymen, Everly Brothers) tie only a piece together of what the band sounds like. With the dramatic Springsteen-esque vocals of Ryan Kennedy (vocals) and the shimmering guitarwork of Russ Davidson, we were caught head over heels in all of their rock glory with their track below, “Easter Eyes”. Surprisingly, the band has only been in existence since this past summer; such immediate chemistry would beg to differ.'
